Transition and Induction Phase (Year 7 & 8)

Program of study

Students receive 3 lessons of Maths per week. Students will start with a baseline assessment to assess if there are any gaps in their mathematical knowledge. This will allow students to follow a scheme of work that covers all aspects of the national curriculum and be exposed to reasoning, logic and problem solving questions to test their ability to apply mathematical skills in real world situations.

Assessment & Homework

Students will be assessed through appropriate formative and summative assessments throughout each term, any topics showing a lack of understanding will be revisited and then re-tested.

A variety of homework tasks will be set and published on ‘show my homework’. Typically a homework should take around 30 minutes. Examples of Homework include; research tasks, worksheets, MyMaths on-line tasks, exam questions and learning of times tables
