Welcome to Sandbach School Sixth Form! We are a growing and dynamic sixth form enrolling boys and girls from 16-19. Our primary aim is to provide outstanding opportunities for our students both inside and outside of the classroom and to maximise their potential. As one of the leading post-16 providers in Cheshire East, we have a proven track record of students achieving the best possible outcomes to best prepare them for life beyond school. In 2013 our consistently excellent A Level results were recognised by ALPS (A Level Performance System) as being in the top 5% of post-16 providers nationally.

Achievement at Sandbach School goes beyond the academic excellence that we all strive for. As you will see in the following pages, students in our sixth form are developed as people through a broad range of extra curricular opportunities and a student leadership programme. Whether you are successful in getting onto the Senior Student Team, or work as an learning mentor for younger students, you will be supported in your own personal leadership goals. Students’ long term aims and ambitions are also supported and developed through a program of advice and guidance that ensures all students are well informed to make decisions about their future.

As a prospective student, or parent, I hope you will find this website useful as you make your choices.

We look forward to welcoming you into our sixth form!

Students Win Youth Speaks Competition

This is a Rotary in Britain and Ireland (RIBI) initiative and is conducted nationally.  All Rotary Districts hold this competition and winners of District competition then participate in a regional competition and winners there will go through to the national final.  Other competitions for youths are Young Chef and Young Musician.

One of the District 1285 heats of the competition took place at Biddulph on 18th January.  One Intermediate group and five senior groups from Cheshire area were in this heat.

Each team consists of a chairman, a speaker and a proposer for vote of thanks.  Sandbach School had a team. Will Bloor - Chairman, Andrew Williams -Speaker and Kyle Mellor - Vote of Thanks.  The member of staff from the school was Director of Sixth form Mr. Andy Barker.

Three Rotarians  represented our club and attended the event at the Methodist Church and Victoria Centre, Biddulph.  The event was hosted by Rotary Club of Biddulph and we were made very welcome by members the club.

The schools that were in the competition were, All Hallows Catholic College (Intermediate group and their topic-Peer pressure), and the senior groups were from Tytherington School (topic-Gender roles), Biddulph High School (2 teams-topics-Western children and deprived children, and Diversity in children’s books), Sandbach School (topic-What next?), and Wilmslow High School (topic-What is more important in our education).  The draw was made as to which order the teams would speak and the competition commenced.

My word, the standard was very high and the atmosphere was tense.  They were all, without exception, a credit to their schools.  It was a serious competition indeed.

After about two hours the last team finished….the three judges were sent to a separate room to deliberate (after them being given first choice at the excellent buffet provided by Biddulph club)

At about 9 p.m., after we had all taken advantage of the buffet, the judges returned to announce the result.    The Chief Judge, His Honour Judge David Fletcher C.B.E. told us, due to the very standard, how difficult the choice was and it was imperative that the judges adhered to the strict rules of the competition.

The winners of Intermediate Groups were All Hallows Catholic School.   The Senior Group runners up were Wilmslow High School and to our delight the winners were Sandbach School.  In addition, Best Speaker was Sandbach’s Andrew Williams and Best Vote of Thanks was Sandbach’s Kyle Mellor.  The groups that won this heat will now go to the District 1285 final on 4th March at Frodsham.

District Governor Rtn. Stan Bowes presented Group winners’ certificates to All Hallows Catholic College (Intermediate Group) and Sandbach School (Senior Group), individual winners, and certificates to all boys and girls for participating.
