Transition and Induction Phase (Year 7 & 8)

Program of study

Students receive 1 lesson of music per week. At Key Stage 3 we believe that students should experience a range of musical styles and genres through practical music making. The Music Department houses many sets of musical instruments which are used in the classroom. Performing, composing and listening & appraisal skills form the basis for tasks set.

Assessment & Homework

Students are encouraged though a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies. The department mark practical activities and listening tasks using the schools LEGO policy.

Homework is minimal at KS3, set once per half term. The majority of our tasks are practical based and take part in the classroom.
